On the road, in all directions!
This week our team was headed in two opposite directions. Beezie’s horses, including Breitling and Kickstart II (pictured below at the Hamilton Airport) headed out west to Thunderbird, along with Katherine Strauss and Claudia Ballesteros’ horses. We will be at Thunderbird for two weeks before we continue on to Spruce Meadows.
At the same time, we took three horses in our Young Horse Development Program to Saratoga Spring III.
Truly Special (2017), Cherry Cola (2016), and Cyber Flower (2017) all put in their first jumper rounds at a show. Check out Cherry Cola in the .70m here!
They also managed to fit in some solid horse show naps. They are clearly already pros at this horse show thing…

Q&A with Beezie…
“Hi, I really appreciate your Monday journal. My question:
What is your bath routine in the summer? Do you use shampoo at each bath?
Thank you, Lise”
Becky Huestis is answering today’s question:
Hi Lise, thanks for your great question. We try to avoid too much bathing in general at JMS, anytime of the year. We do bathe with shampoo before a show and the grey horses end up getting more cleaning to stay looking their best, but we find it’s better for their coat and skin if we don’t use products too often. If the horses get sweaty, we will just hose off with water or if they aren’t that hot, we groom after they’ve cooled out. It is important to remove the sweat from the coat, which can bleach the hair and irritate the skin if left, but it can be better for their coat in the long run to take the time to do a good grooming and toweling, rather than a bath, to get rid of sweat marks. -Becky
To quote John Madden “A little bit of lovin’ and a whole lot of rubbing,” is how you get a shiny healthy coat.
